Bladder

pelvic floor women's health physio for bladder urinary incontinence

Are you experiencing accidental bladder leakage, or frequently needing to pee?

Urinary incontinence can be embarrassing and affect your quality of life. In fact, urinary incontinence affects 1 in 3 women and 1 in 10 men in Australia. Pelvic floor training and changes to poor bladder habits have been shown to reduce urine leakage and other bladder symptoms.

At Pelvic Fit Melbourne, we are able to offer treatment for the following bladder issues:

  • Stress urinary incontinence – urine loss that occurs during activities that increase intra-abdominal pressure such as coughing, sneezing, exercise, and heavy lifting

  • Urinary urgency – Sudden, strong desire, or urge to urinate

  • Urinary urgency incontinence – Urgency that results in involuntary loss of urine

  • Urinary frequency – Needing to empty your bladder > 4-6 times per day. This is often associated with small urine volumes

  • Nocturia – Waking up more than once per night to empty your bladder

  • Enuresis – Bed wetting

  • Voiding dysfunction – difficulty emptying your bladder. For example, difficulty initiating urine flow, emptying bladder completely, or the need to strain when emptying

  • Post-micturition dribble – urine dribbling after you have just finished emptying your bladder. You may notice this on the toilet seat or in your underwear as you go to pull your pants up or walk away

  • Interstitial cystitis/ painful bladder syndrome (PBS) – pain or pressure in the bladder area which can occur at rest, or with voiding (urinating)

At Pelvic Fit Melbourne, we can provide you with extensive treatment options that goes beyond pelvic floor exercises alone.
